We have finished mittens :)

Yes, we do :) I finished my Petras Stulpen on friday evening while watching hubby playing with the fireplace in our little temporary home. We are back already (he had to get back to work) but even though we only had three days of vacation we enjoyed every second of it :)

We spent our time here which gave us not only a lot of contact (some people thought it was a part of the garden and they could walk inside: reminder for myself: shut the doors and turn the key around!) but also a fantastic workout. The bedroom is on the third level of this building. But honestly it was so much better than it sounds. We had an awesome view across the trees over the river Elbe and the marina, took long walks in the park, visited the local art museum nearby, visited our beloved Woerlitz and had a lot of conversations. It is really surprising how much you really talk when there is no radio, TV or internet ;) (and that has to say something, hubby and I talk a lot anyway, he even calls from work for a small chat every now and then).
I didn't knit a lot though because we were busy relaxing :-) but I managed to finish my Stulpen:

Hopefully hubby will take a better picture when he's home again on friday. It's simply impossible to take a picture while at the same time modelling them ;) I am satisfied with those fingerless mittens but I wish I used a different yarn since this one itches a bit. I hope it goes away when I wash them... otherwise I'll have to give them away (same happened to a Kiri-stole I once knit. Kauni looks fantastic but I couldn't stand it even somewhere near my neck even after washing, soaking and trying everything I could think of, even dipping it in hair conditioner :-/ )

I started my Dads christmas socks but they are a) still in the car and b) I managed only a cuff until now, so no pictures so far.

I am still waiting for my dishcloth yarn but it seems as if the package got lost (all of their packages, which is to bad since they seem to have a lot of orders piled up after their short trip to the US). I really hope Hermes (the shipping company( will find them soon, I really need to get started on those dishcloths for christmas...

'tis the season..

...to be jolly hurry up already and start christmas knitting. Luckily I already have finished the stockinette socks for my mom but there is no way I'll suffer through stst socks in my fathers size. I really need to find a pattern that suits him and doesn't drive me batty while knitting ;) While rummaging through my stash I found the perfect yarn (lana Grossa MegaBoots stretch in blues, I'll take a picture later and post it here) and noticed that I really need to stock up again. But psst, don't tell hubby, we actually try to save a bit for unplanned expenses (for example: my dentist just called and told me how expensive my sessions with him will be for the next time.. not funny, I didn't want to fund his next car;) )
Back to knitting:-)
My plans for the next 4 weeks are:
- socks for my dad (german size 44...*sigh*)
- dishcloths for my favourite neighbor
- finish my Stulpen
- some dishcloths for me

By the way, I did sign up for two mystery shawl alongs:
Secret of Bad Nauheim
dem Fischer sin Fru

Both will start next year and are designs from the same designer of the Secret of Chrysopolis Stole that I drool over in ravelry. The design is awesome, and I hope those two stoles will be as beautiful :)
I'm off to my couch again (hey, I was able to drastically reduce my amount of painkiller per day, yay :) )

Peaches and Creme :-)

I just placed an order for 14 skeins of Peaches and Creme (cream?) in different colours to make dishcloths. I know, most knitters now giggle and think I'm odd but really: I don't care at all ;) I had a couple of dishcloths before and they were so much better than regular sponges and brushes. Plus: you can wash them and use them over and over again, so it is easy to keep the germ count low (have you ever read how many germs feel well in a wet sponge? yuck!) and (!) you do something for the enviroment because you don't need to buy new plasticcrap on a regular basis. :-)
I hope the package will come before we leave for our small vacation (4 days from thursday to sunday). I'm sure I'll have time in the evening to knit :)
My "Stulpen" are still in progress (maybe I'll find a bit of knitting time today). One is done and the other one started (I'd be finished by now if I didn't screw up the cable pattern so bad that I had to rip the whole first Stulpe completely). Even hubby thinks they look good :)

On ravelry I'm a member of the Christian knitters group (there are groups for each and every topic people can imagine, religious, atheist, no-cats, always-cats etc.) I found a thread about favourite songs and remembered that I always wanted to share this video :) I absolutely love this song :-)

I hope it'll work :)

Want to marry? Let me knit a sock for you...

I got a call today that I have to share. A friend of mine asked for a pair of socks as a marriage present somewhere in her future. It was aApril, she wasn't in a relationship and I jokingly agreed. Then I knitted her a pair of blue socks and handed them over with the words"Ok, I didn't want you to wait for so long, but now you really need to find your significant other ;)" (It was April then)
She called me today and told me she met the man of her dreams (ok, I'm happy for her) in April. They married in June. Uhm, wait a minute, I didn't mean her to hurry *that* much. I really hope she won't regret that marriage. They hardly knew each other and have met only a few times before they did this step. By the way, they are *now* moving together.... Let us hope she'll be happy. I have her in my prayers.
By the way? Does anybody want to marry too? Need a sock?*rofl*

(I'm still a little shocked but really hope things will work out for her :) )

yelloooowwww, ooohhhh yelloooowwww

uhm, yes, believe me, I can sing better than the title makes you think ;)

But my main theme for the weekend knitting was yellow (and orange...) because it seems as if this yarn is a never ending beautiful story :)

Ok, here we go:

Those are my finally finished Baltikum socks. I know that there is an english pattern around too, though I don't remember where. If you are interested in it, please contact the owner of the Mustersocken-site (see link above). She is really nice and helpful :)

I had some of this gorgeous yarn left so I made these yesterday:

Aren't they adorable? Baby booties :) The pattern is called "Oscar" and can be found here (german) or here (english)

I still have quite a bit of that yarn left, so I guess I'll try out a few more baby patterns. They are always so cute and fast to knit :)

Plus, I started this (not yellow though ;) )

It is the start of some fingerless gloves with a cabled pattern. I'm only at row 20 currently but since it's so cold outside I'm pretty sure I'll finish those soon ;)

Pattern can be found here, both in english and german :)

I'm in :)

So, you know where you can find me ;-) I'm knitsewcraft at ravelry :)

In other news: I'm currently trying out a few baby sock patterns to reduce my stash of "not enough for adult socks"-sock yarn ;) I'll show them off as soon as a pair is finished :)

Pssst.....

here are the pictures I promised... plus a progress shot on my second Baltikum-sock, even though I'm not supposed to knit. But honestly, I am so incredibly bored I had(!) to.

I still don't get the flickr-Option for blogging, so please bear with me...

First of all: my October (and beginning of November collection of socks):

The left socks are plain stockinette socks in LanaGrossa MegaBoots Stretch yarn. I really like the stretchiness and fluffiness but it doesn't hold up patterns well :-/

In the middle are the infamous brownish socks (some Online yarn, quite itchy but I know it will get a lot softer when washed) and on the right you can see my first Baltikum sock (designer is wollkistchen, look her up at ravelry) in a wonderful candy-cornish bright wool/linen mixture. I really love the drape of it and now wonder how it will look after washing it a couple of times.

As you may notice, I still need to weave in the ends, something I really detest to do :-( I wonder why, since it's almost no work ...

Second: a progress shoot of the second Baltikum sock :)

(I did manage to finish it while hubby wasn't looking... he wants me to relax, which drives me bonkers!) By the way, do you see the blue spot on my laptop? Yes, typical me, it's paint.... ;)

Aaand.. last but not least, my new fat quarters for sewing :-) I really like the fabric, maybe I should order some more?! The colours are way more vivid than they appear here :)

Just 1405 people in front of me. Maybe I'll be able to take a peek into ravelry soon :)

no knitting for me...

First of all, my surgery went pretty well on friday :) My teeth are ok, I didn't have any trouble with the anesthesia and since I was so nervous before I did acomplish quite a bit of knitting (pictures will follow ;) ) I was so proud that my sock was finished so fast but now... I need to take a timeout from knitting. Grrr! I had to hide my sock in progress because it sings the song of sirens... get me, knit me, knitting is so much fun, knitting is so relaxing.... and I really want to knit. I really really want to. But there's the problem: I haven't slept since Saturday because my neck is in constant pain. Our oh-so-clever doctor told me to take painkillers and "take a nap". Fantastic :-/ I'll be off to another doctor tomorrow to get a second opinion, painkillers aren't a solution in my opinion. Until then: Tylenol and a lot of TV for me :-/
I hope my ravelry invite arrives soon so I can at least plot some new knitting ;) I've seen a nice hat at The Yarnharlot, there are a couple of sock patterns I'd like to try, I still have a pattern for an Engeln lace-stole that I really like to knit etc etc. Hmm, note to myself: find out how to get a 36hour-day (or a housemaid... which would definitely be easier, and much more expensive)

Pictures of my new fat quarters (I get 5 pieces each month) and my socks so far will follow soonish :)
