omg..omg..omg!!!

Finally... I was able to order three skeins of Wollmeise 100% Merino sock yarn. I'm still shaking a bit since I've tried to order from her for more than a year and was never lucky enough to get what I wanted.
Now... I just need to explain it to hubby since I promised (!) him not to buy anything. Hmm, maybe I could make him buy an IPhone so he knows how I feel?!
Can you believe I feel a bit dizzy and have weak knees because of three poor skeins of yarn?! Neither can I but hey, let's see if there is really magic in her skeins ;-)

drive-by update

Whew, I'm quite busy currently studying since I spent last week inside only (darn allergies) and have to work on the things I missed. Plus, someone told me yesterday evening that today a homework from last week is due. Waaahhh.... I'm still not finished but I think I'll work on it while commuting. Luckily it's just a transliteration, the translation is given which helps a lot.
In other news, I'm knitting frantically (no time for photos...) to finish my Bakers Dozen KAL socks since I got an email that one of my oldest friends has severe back problems. She's not allowed on the computer, has to spend most time walking, then lying, isn't allowed to sit straight but instead do a lot of gymnastics to help her heal. Heck, she's only 32!!! Even though I love the colours of the socks endlessly I'll send them to her. She'll need a little "day brightener" more than I do ;-)
So, pictures will follow before I dump them into the package (reminder to myself: need to get stamps anyway, don't forget!)

eta: I planned to add a small game widget for you.. didn't work, I'm to brainless now to figure out why.

Bakers Dozen No.1

I just started with the first pattern of the Bakers Dozen KAL (link see sidebar). I am using my newly bought Zauberwiese Orchidee yarn which is more than yummy :-)
Speaking of yummy... if you excuse me now, I have a date with Ben n Jerry's (Cookie Dough.. mmmmmmmmmmmmhhhhhhhhhhhh ;-))

Phew...

Luckily the alarm was an "error" meaning there was an accident but no radiation has been set free. Thank god. I remember when I was in 4th grade Tchernobyl exploded. We weren't allowed to eat fruits and vegetables from our garden, even milk and meat were contaminated although we lived almost 900 miles away. I'm all for saving energy and renewable resources :-) And I'm glad that the government decided toi close down all nuclear plants over here during the next years (Now if just our neighbors would do that too I'd feel much better).
Normal knitting content will follow shortly ;-)

Scary...

Just went through our newsticker:
there was an "incident" at a nuclear plant in Krsko,Slowenia. An european warning was issued.
I wonder how bad it is since there are no other news currently available. But a warning for whole Europe? Whoa... :-(

The best things in life are free Vol. 05

Rain! Nothing more to say.... :-)

Socks socks socks...

Before I start to study I'd love to show you my new finished socks (well, almost finished, since I still need to sew in the ends):

Those are my Hannover-Socken (.pdf)(ravelry link). I know the picture looks odd but I wanted to show off the beuatiful pattern and pulled them over my water bottles (some day I will buy a leg to show them off but until then... "socks on water" continues ;-))

The pattern itself is straight foreward and easy to memorize (push the rows to the left... push the rows to the right... lalala) and the result is really stunning. I used some Regia from my stash to make those :-)

And while commuting I finished those simple stockinette socks for me:

They are made from Drachenwolle-yarn :-) The color is a bit off, it should be more red-ish. The yarn itself is fantastic as usual.

As for the long promised shot of me in my Mr. Greenjeans, all I can say is: it's by far to warm to even think of wearing a long-sleeved garment made out of Cascade220. Phew!

We are still waiting for rain here while in other parts of Germany it literally not only rains but hails! I've seen small creeks turned into rapid rivers, people fight floodings while we are sitting here in the heat and hope for a few drops of water from above. Always keep in mind that I live in Germany so the distance between flood and drought isn't that far. The farmers here have been watering their crops since early May, our lawn looks like sometime in August, dry and yellow since I cannot bring myself to spend so much water on simple grass. All I do is watering the perennials twice a day to keep them alive and looking at our neighbors garden which looks green and lush (but hey, at least I don't have to pay as much for water).

OK, I babbled to much, I really need to go back to working :-) So, have fun today, I'll stay inside and enjoy the fact that I can work with books way older than me ;-))
