Early stars

I love this book! Last week I went out, bought it and a few paper cuts to start with and folded my first two window stars (pictures will follow). I know I'm by far to early for christmas but I wanted to try it out (urgently *lol*) Much to my surprise it was easier than I thought, simply cut a few pieces of seethrough coloured paper, fold it and put it on a black centerpiece. Wow! The results are stunning without any practice :-)
I wonder if you can get books like this in english too?!

Monkey up monkey down...

I'm sure every knitter in the world (as long as they have internet access) have seen them, CookieA's infamous monkey socks. The pattern is free, easy to memorize and quite impressive. Plus, it's perfect for handpainted yarn :-)

Lookie here:

I used Zauberwiese sock yarn colourway Orangentörtchen. The colours vary from yellow to dark brown but the pattern still shows extremely well. :-)

Another Zauberwiese skein, colourway Eisblume. If you like soft colours I can only recommendvthis dyer, she is really talented :-) and has an eye for pastels and softer colour combinations. Awesome!

Here is a closeup of this colourway and the monkey pattern :-) Enjoy!

I hope you like these socks as much as I do :-)

The curse strikes again...

I just frogged my Wollmeise "frog" coloured Cowlar. It didn't work out the way I planned. Arrrrgggghhhhh....
To calm myself down I am going to start Hedera in Zauberwiese yarn (greenish colour, beautiful like a spring day :-)) I have knit this pattern before for some mother in law socks and she really loved it. Now it's time to start a pair for myself :-) Plus, even though a bit early, this will be my start into Socktober :-) I'm tired anyway, the dishwasher is working, our washing machine rotates... well, housework is almost done, off to pop a DVD into the player and spend some quality time with awesome yarn and my cats ;-)

Tomorrow: my monkey socks I knitted over summer.. stay tuned ;-)

Par5 socks :-)

When I stumbled upon this pattern I immediatley knew I had to have those socks.
The pattern can be found here (ravelrylink) or directly on Ingrids blog.

I used Wollmeise Veilchen dark as yarn and 2.5mm knitpicks dpns. The results are lovely :-) and I am going to use this pattern again soon :-) Socktoberfest starts in 2 days so maybe I am going to make those in a different yarn :-)

Baby Cardigan in TrekkingXXL

While on our usual walk outside I forced hubby to take pictures of my knitting. It might take a while until I shrunk and uploaded all of my projects but here is one as a littel appetizer :-)

The pattern can be found on ravelry (for 4$, so please don't ask me for the pattern :-)) I used TrekkingXXL handdyed in Jamaika colourway which looked a lot brighter in the skein. But it is lovely when knitted up. For some reason the colours look much brighter than in real life (well, I think it is because hubby likes his pictures verrrry bright and has his camera on those settings as standard.. I was supposed to get his old camera but for some reason he lost the battery for it. Hmm, I hope he'll find it again somewhere :-(

Watch out for more pictures soonish :-) I've got a few more to show ;-)

Socktoberfest :-)

I just joined Socktoberfest It starts in a few days and I am happy to knit up some of my seriously gorgeous yarns I hoarded. Hopefully the yarn I ordered from handgefaerbt.com will arrive soon enough :-) There is one skein especially that I'd love to see knitted up :-) Plus, I hope this will give me my blogging mojo back. Usually the posts form in my head, I just need to take pictures to go with them. That's all ;-)
While I'm typing this I keep glancing out of the window. The tree in front of our house, just across the street, looks amazing. It still looks green as it did the whole time except for one single branch. This one has fiery red leaves that took amazing againts the sky. I love it! Autumn is my favourite season. I really wish we had more time than just a few weeks before everything turns into a grey and soggy world over winter!
By the way, did you know that there is a ravelry group for autumn lovers? If you love it as much as I do, click and meet likeminded people ;-)

The Wollmeise that didn't want to be

While I was absent from blogging (and ravelry) I still knitted. I did finish a couple of socks, a baby sweater and started working on the green Frosch harmonisch Wollmeise sockyarn I bought. I knew it was intended to be something special since God only knows if I'm ever lucky enough again to score some. So... I bought CookieA's stricken pattern. The pattern is awesome and with a bit of concentrating doable :-) So I started knitting up the Frosch... but for some reason I didn't like the inflexibility of the yarn. It feels awesome but is spun so tightly that the small cables drove me bonkers. OK, off to the frog pond it went. Then I thought: why hide this awesome colour? and started knitting on Lace ribbon. After all, a couple of people over on ravelry turned their Wollmeises in nice Lace ribbons. After two sets of pattern repeats I decided that this pattern wasn't perfect for me. I didn't like how the holes lined up. Off to the frog pond it went. Fast foreward: I still thought about a scarf pattern. After all it turned cold about 4 weeks ago and the weather man told everyone that we will have an unusual cold autumn. Well, ok.. so I went on a search again and found this pattern: Gathered scarf. The pattern itself is easy and the result looks great, but I only had those horrible dpns in 5mm that almost made me quit my Mr. Greenjeans. Off to the frog pond it went...
Now I started a ribbed cowl/mini scarf and hope that I finish this pattern. good thing that the yarn stands up to frogging extremely well ;-)

Well, after thinking about it there is no wonder that this yarn is so difficult, the colour is named Frosch (in english: frog!) after all, it just lives up to its name *sigh*

(my camera is charging so I hope to take pictures today :-))

it's all ravelrys fault!

No, really ;-) I always seem to get so sucked into ravelry that I hardly remember my own blog anymore. But I need to take pictures of my knitting and show them off here. I made a couple of really nice socks out of handpainted yarns, a sweet baby cardigan and started an Adamas shawl. Now I just hope for a day of nice weather to take pictures :-)
I really should work a bit more for university (classes start end of October but I have to finish some assignments before) but somehow I'm quite satisfied with just doing my household chores and knitting. Life can be so relaxing ;-)
In other news I just drove our neighbour and her son up to the hospital and now I'm waiting for a call to pick them up again. It seems as if he broke his ankle, poor guy. Send good vibes along, I'm sure he'll need them!
Now I'm off to knit and wait, pictures will be taken tomorrow and hopefully blogging will happen too :-) See you at ravelry or around here :-)
